Mélanie Laurent’s film with Adèle Exarchopoulos, Isabelle Adjani and Philippe Katherine is expected for November 1, 2023 on the platform.
On Netflix, French productions are on the rise. The streaming platform has just unveiled the trailer for Thieves (2023), the new film by Mélanie Laurent with Adèle Exarchopoulos. For his return behind the camera following The Fools’ Ball in 2021, the French is now tackling the robbery film. Tired of living in hiding, two best friends and genius thieves join forces with Sam, their new recruit, for one last mission that will not leave them unscathed.
Thieves is an adaptation of the comic The Great Odalisque, published by Dupuy in 2012. The cast will notably be completed by Manon Bresch, Philippe Katherine and Isabelle Adjani. The actress was also able to describe the film in an interview given to nice morning : “a feminine choral film between Paris and Corsica […] There will be action with a “Mission Impossible” side of women and a lot of humor “. The release of the film on Netflix is expected for November 1, 2023.
Netflix bets on French
Thieves will therefore be a new French production for Netflix. Earlier in the year, the action movie Aka (2023) with Alban Lenoir was a hit on the platform, becoming for a time the most viewed program on the service. The success of the feature film was reminiscent of that of the two films Lost bulletstill with Alban Lenoir and whose third film should be released in 2024.
Netflix also presented on July 6 Cash, another heist film by Jérémie Rozan with rising star Raphaël Quenard. The start of the school year will also be entitled to its share of French productions, such as the highly anticipated carpetbiographical series on Bernard Tapie with Laurent Lafitte in the title role.
