Two boys, 8 and 12, saved another youngster from drowning in Michigan last June following spotting him underwater in a swimming pool in front of multiple witnesses.

“I saw him at the bottom of the pool and I didn’t know if he was playing or something. So I told Weston to come over to the side of the pool and dive in to see if he was okay, 12-year-old Noah Roche said in an interview with >. I thought it was the right thing to do, I didn’t want to let anyone die.”

In video taken from surveillance cameras, 7-year-old Griffin Emerson can be seen gently drifting off the side of the pool into the deeper space, struggling to keep his head above water.

It was only almost a minute later that the two young people noticed the boy at the bottom of the water, deciding to intervene immediately. The young Weston Woods, 8, would then have thrown himself into the water, bringing the little one to the surface, before being helped by an adult to get him out of the pool.

The mother of the drowned young man would then have started a cardiac massage on her son, who would have spat out the water from the swimming pool before being transported to a hospital center.

“I was scared, I thought I was going to drown. I felt a little weird, told the little one, who owes his life to his two comrades, to the American media. I spat water and voila!”

A ceremony was held by the Genesse County Sheriff’s Office to congratulate the two heroes, according to Delaware Online.

“Weston and Noah hold a special place in my heart. And they practically saved Griffin Emerson. A lot of my heroes don’t wear capes. And they are two of them,” said the victim’s grandfather, Tom Kinczkowski.
