2023-07-11 11:50:32

Sikensi, July 11, 2023 (AIP)- The coordinator of the expanded vaccination program (EPI) in the health district of Sikensi, Koné Vincent, urged, on Monday July 10, 2023, the mothers of the department to respect the vaccination schedule established by the Ministry of Health and Universal Health Coverage.

Mr. Koné launched the call, during the Awareness Day on vaccination once morest covid-19 coupled with the activities of the routine Expanded Vaccination Program (EPI), initiated by the NGO Breath for action.

The coordinator deplored the “negligence of the mothers” of Sikensi in following the established vaccination schedule, to the point that vaccination coverage remains low in the various localities of the department, in particular in Katadji, Bécédi and Sikensi city, with a coverage rate of 62% for a target of 95%.

He also regretted an “insufficient indicator” concerning the vaccine once morest measles and rubella administered to the child at 9 months, despite the recent introduction by the Ministry in charge of Health, of a second dose of vaccine called RR2 , given from 15 months to strengthen the immunity of offspring.

The health professional, however, praised the response provided by district health officials whenever an epidemic is declared, as was the case in February 2023, in the face of the measles epidemic recorded in Elibou, Katadji and Sikensi.

The district’s communication focal point, Kouassi Yao Christian, invited the “parents” to go to the advanced vaccination posts made available to them for the well-being of their families.

The meeting was chaired by the secretary general of the prefecture of Sikensi, Rabbé Adou Affla Noëlle, in the presence of the covid program assistant of the NGO, Coulibaly Nibon.
