Despite the launch of a major project for the dematerialization of civil status registers, local authorities remain very paper-hungry.

The Ministry of the Interior, which oversees these communities via the General Directorate of Territorial Communities (DGCT) has just placed an order for 2 million dirhams for the acquisition of civil status registers, intended for state offices -civil.

According to Maghreb-Intelligence sources, this market was won by a trader holding a paper mill in Fez, “L’Imprimerie, papeterie et negociant Karaouiyine Fès”.

“Even with the dematerialization, the Ministry of the Interior is required to issue a physical document to citizens”, explains a source close to the Ministry of the Interior.

And the same for other documents issued by the same department, while waiting for better days.
