The joy, elegance and flirtation of the stages where huaylarsh is danced was transferred to the sports fields, where the casts of modern and ancient huaylarsh from Huancayo star, in the championship that takes place from May to July of each year.
The anthems of each cast continue to be sung at the top of their lungs, but on the sports fields for 7-a-side football, ladies’ futsal and ladies’ volleyball.
“Since 2009, we founded the ‘Huaylarsh Wanka Sports Association’ in order to encourage sport among young people who participate in huaylarsh competitions. Due to the covid-19 pandemic we suspended, but this year we will resume with the participation of 35 delegations between modern, ancient and former dancers”, said the treasurer of the commission, Miguel Herrera.
Attractive matches were played yesterday morning, in the semifinal. Only 12 teams qualified for the men’s 7-a-side soccer final, which they will play this Sunday, July 16. While in women’s futsal and women’s volleyball, 9 teams from each discipline classified.
“There are 9 dates that we schedule for the meetings. This coming Sunday, the grand final will take place and the champions of each discipline will make up the organizing committee for next year. Our goal is to unite all huaylarsh growers through sports activities like this one,” added Herrera.
The matches are played at the El Dorado sports field, located two blocks from the Umuto cemetery, in the El Tambo district.
