The Population and Human Development Commission approved various initiatives on Monday, July 10, among which stands out the draft declaration that “expresses repudiation for the crimes of sexual abuse, kidnapping and femicide committed once morest indigenous girls, better known under the name of chineo, and framed within the ethnocide suffered by the native peoples”.

In this sense, the deputy of the Frente de Todos María Luisa Chomiak expressed: “We have to classify the chineo as a hate crime and thus be able to make it visible.”

On the other hand, consensus was reached on the draft resolution by which the 139th anniversary of the city of Loreto, department of the same name, in the province of Santiago del Estero, to be celebrated on July 15, was declared of interest to the Chamber of Deputies. 2023.

In this sense, its author, the deputy Estela Neder (FdT) asked for the accompaniment of her peers to “celebrate this anniversary”, when pondering “the growth of this city over the years”.

In addition, during the meeting different initiatives were analyzed: “Declare the Smart City Expo Santiago del Estero 2023 of interest to the Chamber of Deputies”; which was held last June in the city of La Banda, province of Santiago del Estero; and “express appreciation for the celebration of the day of the Italian Immigrant in Argentina”, which is commemorated on June 3 of each year in our country; among others.

Referring to the projects, Deputy Fabio Quetglas (UCR) stressed that “sensible public policies change people’s lives,” stressing the importance of “learning from the experiences of other countries.” And he added: “I am pleased that the urban agenda is dealt with in this commission.”
