Maria Eduarda will be one of the competitors who will face Camila Escribens, the Peruvian representative of this international contest.

The representative of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, bordering Argentina and Uruguay, was crowned the most beautiful woman in Brazil during the contest held at the Pátio Welucci event center in the city of Sao Paulo.

Second place went to Bárbara Reis, from Mato Grosso (west), and in third place was the host candidate Vitória Brodt, from Sao Paulo (southeast).

An activist since she was fifteen, when she started a social work project in the field of education, mainly for victims of bullying, Brechane seeks to win back the title of Miss Universe in December, elusive for Brazil since 1968.

The only Brazilian winners of the main world beauty contest have been Iêda Maria Vargas, also from Rio Grande do Sul, in 1963, and five years later Martha Vasconcellos, from the state of Bahia, according to EFE.
