The provincial government triangulated some 24 million pesos through a foundation, linked to the Río Negro Philharmonic Orchestra, for expenses for the organization of the Bariloche International Music Festival that took place at the end of May.
The funds were issued to the technes foundation in advance of the event, with at least four authorizations of “non-refundable contributions” for 6 million pesos each payment orderaccording to the synthesized decrees published in different official bulletins of Río Negro, dated between May 11 and 24.
The Technes Foundation, which has provincial legal status and was created in 2015, is made up of artists from the Río Negro Philharmonic. “Before, the cache of the artists following the event was paid, but with the issue of the dollar there was a need to pay in advance to fix the value”, explained the artistic director, who remarked that the contracts were made through representatives in Argentina of the musicians.
In addition to internationally renowned artists, they came to Bariloche two musical ensembles from the United Statesto whom no cache was paid although the travel and lodging expenses were paid.
According to Freile, they were some 30 million pesos allocated through the Technes Foundation, although the decrees that this newspaper has accessed so far add up to 24 million. In addition, other budgets were 10 million pesos through the Ministry of Culture for rentals of the Teatro La Baita and Estación Araucanía, among other logistical expenses, including the hiring of a local production company that was in charge of laying out the grid, organizing the delivery of tickets and press efforts.
The 40 million pesos allocated to Fimba double last year’s expenses, an increase in line with inflation. Freile indicated that Governor Arabela Carreras promptly asked to hold an outstanding edition, due to its importance for Bariloche in the cultural agenda, but austere. Fimba, a proposal that was born in 2019
The Fimba is arose in 2019 at the idea of the then Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Arabela Carreras. Although it was conceived as a project to generate a tourist-cultural attraction to the city, the largest public is local.
This year a new edition was made with all the potential of its origins, following the restrictions of the pandemic, and it returned to its original date in May. 30 artists passed in five venues.
