© Chad Moore, director of steampunk-RPG Clockwork Revolution by inXile said that: With deep world-building, compelling storytelling, solid RPG systems, addictive gameplay, and tremendous reactivity, I have always described Clockwork Revolution as the love child of Arcanum and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines . In another life, Moore was a developer at Troika Games, the legendary company behind the iconic RPGs Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, The Temple of Elemental Evil, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. When someone with considerable experience on Arcanum and Vampire says that Clockwork Revolution is the “love child” of these two games with “great reactivity”, these are not empty words. Troika’s games are simply amazing in their variety. The studio was founded by Fallout 1 creators Tim Kaine, Leonard Boyarsky and Jason Anderson. Their first game, Arcanum, feels almost like an alternative to Fallout 2. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines translated this principle into a first-person perspective on Valve’s Source engine. The game still looks fantastic to this day, with its moody turn-of-the-century charm and gothic feel to it. InXile has also made a name for itself as an RPG developer with the new Wasteland and Torment: Tides of Numenera. The connection to Troika is reinforced by the involvement of the company’s co-founder and Fallout 1 developer Jason Anderson, who also works for inXile and works on Clockwork Revolution. All of this classic RPG talent makes it look forward to inXile’s first attempt at a more immersive first-person RPG. A release date for Clockwork Revolution has not yet been set, but it will appear “in due time”. Meanwhile, the other two Troika founders, Tim Kane and Leonard Boyarsky, seem to be hard at work on The Outer Worlds 2.
