Sharjah 24 – Asaad Khalil:
Dutchman Max Verstappen, driver of the Red Bull team, won the British Grand Prix in the Formula 1 world championship.
With the start of the race, Verstappen lost the lead, but was able to regain it, to win the sixth race in a row, and his eighth race of the season.
British Lando Norris, the McLaren driver, had the best start as he managed to overtake Verstappen in the first corner, but the Dutch driver, who was close to losing his position to Australian Oscar Piastri, the second McLaren driver, regained the lead in the fifth lap.
And the McLaren team, which was holding the race at home, had reason to celebrate, as Norris was able to stand on the podium, winning second place, for the first time since 2022 in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, following a strong battle with Briton Lewis Hamilton, driver Mercedes, who finished third.
Verstappen leads the drivers’ category standings with 255 points, 99 points ahead of his Mexican team-mate Sergio Perez.
Formula 1 will move to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 23.
