At 61.74 percent, voter turnout was significantly lower than in autumn 2021 (79.1 percent), but the result in the mayoral election was similarly dominant. Political career changer Karl Kastner received 84.15 percent of the votes cast yesterday, making him the new mayor of Allhaming.
The VP politician clearly defeated his challenger Hagen Mosser (FP) and thus succeeds ex-mayor Jutta Enzinger (VP), who resigned from office in March of this year, as reported, for “personal and professional reasons”.
He is very happy regarding the clear election result, said Kastner in the OÖN interview. The promise he made during his candidacy to “listen to the citizens” was honored. “I gave 100 percent plus and will continue to do so in the future,” said the new mayor.
Time out with the daughter
Even if there is a lot to do, Kastner will take a little break from the middle of the week. “I’m going away with my daughter for a few days, she deserves it because she hasn’t seen me much in the past few weeks.”
After that, the local chief, who has an absolute majority in the municipal council (VP: 9, FP: 2, SP: 2), has many tasks. “In addition to the already well-known topics such as the traffic situation and traffic safety in the town, there are topics that I have written down in the many discussions with the citizens.” This list of wishes and projects needs to be worked through, but the new local boss does not want to say what exactly is on it. He first had to see what might be implemented and how. In the OÖN interview following the successful election, Kastner renewed the cooperation that he had repeatedly focused on, which he describes as his political style. “Together you are guaranteed to make more progress and I will try to strengthen the cooperation even further,” said Kastner.
Hagen Mosser, who was defeated in the election, congratulated the new mayor and is looking forward to his announcements and promises in the election campaign being implemented for the benefit of the community. “I will continue to raise my critical voice and take care of important issues such as road safety and local development,” Mosser continued.
