They are almost all unemployed, eat little, sleep on the streets, suffer from infectious diseases or skin conditions and develop unmanageable behavior that exasperates the neighborhoods concerned. In Geneva, crack users, now banned from Quai 9 premises during the day due to incompatibility with other users, represent a growing health and safety challenge. And it is to Pierre Maudet, new Minister in charge of Health, that these atypical drug addicts owe the fact of being at the heart of another political controversy. The Minister has indeed declared to the Morning Sunday that “the State is not favorable to the opening of a dedicated place of consumption” envisaged by prevention circles.
