Watch out for heat and lightning. Fourteen departments are placed, Sunday July 9, in orange vigilance, including four for heat wave in the South-East and ten others for violent storms in the North-East, announced Météo-France in its 6 a.m. bulletin.

In the South-East, Rhône, Ain, Isère and Alpes-Maritimes are on orange alert for a heat wave, due to a “non-exceptional heatwave episode for the season, but the persistence of which requires particular vigilance”, specifies the institute. In the North-East, ten other departments, Aisne, Seine-et-Marne and the entire Grand-Est region with the exception of Alsace, have been placed on orange alert for violent storms.

In Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse, the mercury should notably reach 38 degrees, indicates the meteorological institute, which has also placed 59 departments on yellow vigilance for heat waves or violent storms. On the rest of the country, except for a few clouds and showers on the mountains, the day will be calm and sunny, in an atmosphere that will always be warm.
