Roaming: beware of abuse!
The summer vacation period is here and with it its share of heart attacks linked to the roaming bills of our mobile operators. Well almost, because over the years the biggest pitfalls have disappeared. There are still very significant price differences. Thanks to the options, it is possible to melt your note by a factor of 12!
This is the conclusion of a comparative of the specialized site Dschungelkompass, which went to collect all the prices from the major operators, the virtual operators (MVNO). Obviously, this exercise does not include plans that already include roaming minutes or data.
Up to 120 francs per hour…
At Sunrise and Salt, you have to pay up to 120 francs to call from Europe to Switzerland for an hour, or around 2 francs per minute! Once once more when it comes to roaming, Swisscom is more reasonable with 24 francs! Incredible to see these (pseudo) competitors of the former monopolist so expensive.
With specific options, this same hour of conversation costs 15.90 francs at Swisscom. On the Sunrise side, you still have to pay 28 francs, while you get 17 francs for the same service at Salt. The bill is therefore divided by a factor of 1.5 at Swisscom, 4 at Sunrise UPC and 7 at Salt.
As for virtual operators, we go from 120 francs at Yallo to 10 francs (12x cheaper with an option) and from this same initial amount to 14.90 francs at Aldi mobile. Finally, it is interesting to note that if GoMo does not offer an option, it is limited to 27 francs for 60 minutes.
Beware of mobile data
As far as mobile surfing is concerned, the rates have indeed fallen, but sometimes remain prohibitive. The GB of data is negotiated between 9.90 francs (Galaxus Connect) and up to 45 francs at Yallo, the discounted brand of Sunrise UPC, which however offers an unlimited formula (interesting). For comparison, GoMo from Salt is 25 francs, while Sunrise UPC and Swisscom charge 14.90 francs.
Finally, the 10GB package, which is no longer that big at the time of streaming, can be purchased from 39 francs at Galaxus Connect and can reach the incredible price of 209.95 at GoMo. Again for comparison, Sunrise UPC (unlimited) and Swisscom require 59.90 francs from their customers, while Salt still claims 99.95 francs for 12GB… Caution, caution!
