Lane Hutson contributed to the Boston University Terriers’ 2-1 overtime win over the Providence Friars on Friday night with an assist.
With the win, the Terriers advance to the Hockey East Division Finals, which will take place on Saturday. Boston will have the chance to win a 10th Hockey East title.
With less than three minutes left in the game and down 1-0, Hutson took advantage of a fine pass to carry the puck from one end to the other. After some spectacular feints in the offensive zone, Hutson got behind for Dylan Peterson who scored to send everyone into overtime.
In overtime, it was the brother of Canadiens defense prospect, Quinn Hutson, who played the heroes to propel the Terriers into the final. With just over nine minutes left in extra time, Hutson redirected a fine pass from fellow Canadiens prospect Luke Tuch to give Boston the win.
Bennett Schimek had given Providence the lead with less than eight minutes left in the game.
Hutson now has 12 goals and 45 points this season in 35 games.
Other Montreal Canadiens prospects also picked up their share of points on Friday night. In the Ontario Hockey League, defenseman Logan Mailloux had a goal and two assists in a 6-3 win for the London Knights over the Kingston Frontenacs. The defenseman scored his 24th goal of the season and now has 51 points in 55 games.
Forward Owen Beck picked up an assist in the Peterborough Petes’ 3-2 loss to the Sudbury Wolves. He thus increased his counter to 62 points in 56 games during the campaign.
