Mark Van Bommel has made strong choices: the defending champion dismisses four players from his core for the summer camp, including one holder.
Champion at the end of the suspense, Antwerp has just announced the selection which will leave for an internship next week, in Austria. The Great Old will stay not far from two other Pro League clubs: Anderlecht and RWDM.
For this summer preparation, Mark Van Bommel brought in 27 players to build a mix of Core A players from last season and hopes close to joining the Jupiler Pro League.
In this group, there are four notable absentees: Frank Boya, Dorian Dessoleil, Michael Frey but also and above all… Birger Verstraete. Despite his 35 games played last season, the 29-year-old midfielder is no longer in the plans and can find a new employer, like the other three players mentioned above.
