The Growing Trend of Camping: Renting Campers for Car Dealerships

In 2021, camping experienced a real boom. During the peak phase of the corona pandemic, hardly any other form of vacation was possible. The camping trend continued and is continuing this year. In 2022, almost 91,000 mobile homes and caravans were newly registered across Germany. In addition to buying your own camper, there are also many options for renting a mobile home or similar vehicle.

Renting is not only an option for end consumers. Car dealerships can also participate in the camping enthusiasm. They do not necessarily have to buy campers for this, but they can also rent them – in order to then rent them out to interested parties. The rental specialist Euro-Leasing offers a corresponding product for car dealerships of the Volkswagen Group brands.

“The partner rental of camping vehicles is a strong support for our license partners. With the Volkswagen Grand California 600 and the Volkswagen T6 California Ocean, we offer our partners mobile hotel rooms with great facilities. This is ideal for car dealerships to increase further marketing potential by expanding the vehicle fleet. Especially since the enthusiasm for camping in Germany is still going strong. The participating locations can thus meet the demand for campers without tying up additional capital,” explains Jörg Pape, Managing Director of Euro-Leasing, the concept. Car dealerships are expanding their range with partner rental. You can also address new customers nationwide and strengthen sales with rentals, without any tied-up capital or residual value risk. Another advantage for the license partner is the integration into a central booking site. Customers can select a camper for their holiday tour there. The rental period for the participating car dealerships starts at four months for the Grand California. The partner rental includes registration and insurance as well as delivery and collection of the camper.

The Grand California, for example, offers four seats and four beds as well as a toilet and a shower on board. A kitchen module and an interior table are also among the fixed features. With dimensions of 5.99 meters in length, 2.97 meters in height and 2.04 meters in width (without exterior mirrors), it can be driven with a car driver’s license. The camper is powered by a 177 hp four-cylinder diesel engine.

In addition to comprehensive equipment, the Volkswagen T6.1 California Ocean also offers four beds and seats. It is also equipped with an awning, outdoor shower, compressor fridge and a rack for four bikes. Automatic transmission and parking assistant as well as reversing camera make driving the California Ocean easier. (aum/av)
