• Monday July 3 – The Piton de la Fournaise puts on a show

The Piton de la Fournaise woke up this Sunday, July 2, 2023, for the very first time this year. The volcano began to show signs of waking up at 7:36 a.m. and the eruption was confirmed around 8:30 a.m. on the eastern flank of the enclosure. The eruption continues for its second day on Monday, on the east and south-east flank of the volcano. Two cracks are open. The show is visible from the lava road

• Tuesday July 4 – Baccalaureate: it’s time for the results for the 11,998 candidates of the Academy

Admitted, remedial, failed?… This Tuesday, July 4, 2023, is D-Day for the 11,998 candidates for the new version baccalaureate from Reunion. The time of delivery for some (who already know 80% of their score) and therefore of the discovery of the long-awaited results, synonymous with the end of the year and the start of a new stage towards in their path towards active life. And even if the baccalaureate has lost its symbolic significance (following the Blanquer reform), the moment of the results is still an important moment for high school students. See you at 10 a.m….

• Wednesday July 5 – Chips, sweets, cakes… too much emptiness, too much packaging and too much plastic

Who has never been disappointed by opening a packet of crisps and realizing in the end that it is only half full. Who has never bought a pack of family-size cakes, thinking it was full to the brim so that in the end it contained the same quantity as the normal size? And yes, emptiness is (almost) everywhere in our packaging. It is this void that Foodwatch and Zéro Waste France denounce, issuing an ultimatum to five major food brands. A misleading practice with an impact on the ecology.

• Thursday July 6 – Prices: everything, everything, everything, you will know everything regarding the calculation of inflation

On June 26, 2023, Insee (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) unveiled – as every month – the consumer price index in Reunion. Food, tobacco, energy… almost everything goes through it. Products that pass in particular through the hands of INSEE investigators who record prices in order to be able to calculate what is called the “consumer price index”. In order to see more clearly – following many questions from our Internet users – on how to calculate these prices, the Imaz Press teams decided to question Insee.

• Friday July 7 – Two viruses newly transmitted by the tiger mosquito, Reunion is not immune

After dengue or chikungunya, might Reunion be affected by the West Nile and Usutu viruses? Indeed, researchers from the Paster Institute have revealed that the tiger mosquito is now capable of transmitting these two new viruses. But while this discovery was made, Imaz Press questioned the Research Institute for Development (IRD) and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) on the epidemiological risks in Reunion.
