After that, Nizar joined the Syrian diplomatic corps in Spain, but he was unable, despite the passage of more than seven years, to forget Bilqis, whom he loved at first sight.

The story might have ended with the father’s refusal, but the two parties were extremely stubborn, and their stubbornness and clinging to each other led them to return to each other, and they began exchanging messages of passion and love, in the absence of the father, for another seven years, even if the poet was invited to participate in the Al-Murbad Poetry Festival in Iraq in 1969, he narrates to a stunned audience chapters from his touching story with Bilqis.

The Iraqi president at the time, Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, heard the identity of the master that Nizar Qabbani was talking regarding, and he knew regarding the story that brought them together with all its extreme national and political connotations and dimensions. After a period of her departure, the Palestinian President at the time, Yasser Arafat, surprised Nizar Qabbani, telling him that his late wife had received military training in the ranks of the Palestinian military in 1968, one year before their marriage, and that she had placed herself with some of her Iraqi companions at the disposal of the Palestinian revolution.
