Despite much talk regarding Apple’s Vision Pro, the company was keen to remember that the iPad Pro also has features that use augmented reality technology. It’s regarding the Deep Fieldan educational application that allows children to draw plans on the device, which renders them in 3D format.

In general, there is no way to compare the level of immersion of this functionality with what a mixed reality headset can provide the user. However, Apple claims that it is possible to have a “lite” experience through the tablet using the images and the aforementioned resource. In a press release, the company stated:

Participants are invited to be inspired by works of art and the environment to design their own flora and fauna, experimenting with vibrant colors, shapes and textures. After imagining fantastic parts of plants, participants sketch their designs with Apple Pencil in the Deep Field iPad app

In practice, the iPad Pro makes use of the built-in LiDAR sensor to scan the environment and do 3D mapping. In this way, he can position the drawn objects with certain precision. This tool is part of an artistic experience created by Australian artists Tin Nguyen e Edward Cuttingyes Tin&Ed.

So when you use Apple Pencil to make your artwork-inspired creations, the tablet transforms them, bringing art to life through the use of 3D. Likewise, users can make objects move along walls, floors and ceilings, according to the apple itself.

This function can be understood as a way for the company to make both developers and users more excited regarding the use of augmented reality, something that will be more common and immersive when Vision Pro is finally released. Finally, check out the problems faced by the brand in the production of the headset.

The Apple iPad Pro 12.9 is not yet available in Brazilian stores. To be notified when it arrives.
