In recent years, the Apple has promoted its smartphone cameras with the series “Shot on iPhone” (“Filmed with an iPhone”). This week, the company released another short film shot entirely with the iPhone 14 Prothis time highlighting an important element of Mexican culture.
Completely in Spanish, “Hurricane Ramirez vs. The Enchilada Pinata” takes up the Mexican wrestling genre with a story in which the fighter is co-opted from leaving his retreat to face a haunted Piñata. The term comes from a typical Mexican game that involves a kind of container made and covered in crepe paper with sweets inside.
Directed by Tania Verduzco and Adrián Pérez (who are known in Mexico as “Os Perez”), the short was published in Apple’s official YouTube channel and uses features highlighted by the company in the cameras of iPhones released in recent years – such as Action and Cinema modes.
These and other details regarding the filming of the short were revealed in another behind the scenes video of the short. Narrated by some of the most influential names in Mexican wrestling history (according to the mexican website Drowsiness), o making of counts on the participation of people who were directly involved with the production — including the directors.
Recently, Apple released an Indian short film also filmed with the iPhone 14 Pro. Will we one day have a short film like that recorded here? ????
