Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Montreal Branch is a community organization that is part of a century-old pan-Canadian network whose mission is to promote mental health and prevent mental illness. With the social determinants of health as its cornerstone, its action targets the entire Montreal community, in addition to paying particular attention to some of its populations (young people, seniors, workers, entrepreneurs, stakeholders, single people).

Mandate : reporting to the seniors project manager and the general manager, the person holding this position is responsible for leading mental health promotion workshops with seniors and collaborates in the planning and implementation of the Apprivoiser program his loneliness and develop his network (ASDR). Its role also consists in knowing and targeting the needs of the training groups as well as the host organizations and ensuring the rigor, relevance and impact of the program on the clientele. The person will also collaborate in the deployment of the program throughout Montreal.

Its main responsibilities are to:

Work closely with the project manager to implement and deploy the program. Animate closed groups (various formats: face-to-face or remotely) and adapt the animation according to the different types of clienteles (community centers, RPA, etc.). Appropriate and ensure the transfer of knowledge of the program Taming one’s solitude and developing one’s network developed by the ACSM Subsidiary of Montreal. Collaborate in the revision and adaptation of the content associated with the ASDR program according to the challenges of the context. Embody a positive view of aging and defend the values ​​of the fight once morest ageism. Participate in the optimization of the program’s impact measures. Follow up on requests and manage the training schedule. Be able to make a quick analysis of the expectations and needs of customers in order to best personalize the animation of the training groups. Participate in scientific monitoring of the mental health of seniors (winning conditions, positive network initiatives, precipitating factors of psychological distress, etc.). Promote the program and represent the organization with different bodies or at various events. Identify themes of interest and take part in the development of the organization’s service offer.

Skills and Qualifications:

University degree or equivalent in social gerontology, in the psychosocial field or related fields (psychology, social work, anthropology, sociology, public health, etc.). Relevant experience related to the mandate. Demonstrated knowledge of mental health and adherence to the promotion-prevention approach. Good understanding of the complexity of aging experiences. Familiarity with the concepts of social participation and ageism. Knowledge of the network of services for seniors, the field of mental health or social innovation (an asset). Significant experience in group facilitation and knowledge transfer in a virtual and face-to-face context. Good knowledge of the Microsoft environment and digital communication tools (Zoom, Slack, Asana). Perfect command of French both orally and in writing, functional English (bilingualism an asset). Have access to a means of transport to facilitate travel on the territory (an asset).

Working conditions

Contract until December 31, 2023 (with possibility of renewal). 35 hour work week.
