It’s official. The former mayor of Bucaramanga and former candidate for the presidency of the Republic, Rodolfo Hernández Suárez, registered this Friday, July 7, his candidacy to reach the Santander Governorate.

The leader of the League of Anti-Corruption Rulers party registered his candidacy with the Registrar’s Office as a surprise, without announcing it and without carrying out any political act.

Hernández’s candidacy was registered with the endorsement of his group, the League of Anti-Corruption Governors. It has not yet been confirmed if any other political party will endorse the aspiration to the Governorate.

Hernández Suárez had indicated in several appearances on his social networks that he would participate in the electoral contest next October but had not explicitly stated which popularly elected position.

In a video posted on his social networks, Rodolfo Hernández answered several questions, including how his treatment for colon cancer that he was diagnosed has been like. Despite the fact that he stated that his recovery has not been easy, he assured that he will not give up, and announced to his political opponents that he will be in the next regional elections in October.

“All those who are having a party so that I die tomorrow, the day following tomorrow or before the elections, more thoroughly the attack, it will be an attack like that of Mike Tyson, who knocked them out in the first round and without rest: 20 hours of campaigning, it’s three little months, that’s nothing, all those politicians are going to be sucking,” Rodolfo Hernández said in the interview.

Recent decision of the Attorney

Last May, a decision was made known by the Attorney General’s Office that sanctioned and disqualified the former mayor of Bucaramanga and former presidential candidate, Rodolfo Hernández Suárez, for 14 years from holding public office due to the scandal known as Vitalogic.

The decision of the Public Ministry is produced in a first instance ruling considering that the then local president incurred in undue interest in the assignment of a contract in the process of installing a new technology for the treatment of garbage in the El Carrasco landfill. .

The Attorney General’s Office informed, through a press release, that Hernández Suárez participated in a meeting in Bogotá with emissaries of the company Vitalogic RSU, “not as an act of courtesy to hear proposals, but to find out how the project that he had previously requested had been structured. , and in it it was agreed to designate the person who would elaborate the terms that would allow the aforementioned contracting firm to be selected”.
