In a galaxy far, far away… will we still use our old guns? This is what Starfield, the next RPG from Bethesda studio (Fallout, The Elder Scrolls), seems to offer. On a leak posted by a certain Idle Sloth, on Twitter and Reddit, we can indeed clearly see the famous AK-47! An assault rifle that we are served in all sauces in the video game – Call of Duty, Battlefield, Counter Strike, via Far Cry or Days Gone – but which denotes a bit in an adventure that takes place in 2330 . “Why the hell would people use an AK-47 in space”, asks a user. In another post, another even shares gameplay with the weapon.
“What is fun for the player”
As mentioned on social networks, this is undoubtedly a modernized version of the AK-47, with – why not – some new gadgets. In last June’s Starfield Direct, Bethesda clarified that it will be possible to customize firearms with a sight, a magazine, and even special ammunition. Overall, the RPG’s “gunfight” appears unfussy, relying on super-known archetypes (silenced pistol, sniper, shotgun, etc.). “I think it’s always a delicate balance between realism, which is simulation and what is Hollywood” note Tim Lamb, lead producer on Starfield. “And I think we’ve taken a side step to find what’s fun for the player”. According to this logic, it is not surprising that the AK-47 is present.
In the same video, another developer confides that the combat system has been “completely revised” here – with a more dynamic and fluid result… Obviously, the Bethesda title should not disappoint on this point, as for the narration or exploring. In this space RPG, players will have to go in search of the galaxy’s rarest artifacts in more than 1000 planets. Released September 6 on PC, Xbox Series. On that date, it will also be in the Game Pass.
