The measure was adopted during the Departmental Council for Disaster Risk Management, which took place at the Proclamation Palace.

The measure was adopted by the authorities and seeks to increase preventive actions and better care tools in the face of the situation generated by the increase in dengue cases.

The Ministry of Health and the Bolívar Disaster Risk Management Office made a special call to municipal mayors to simultaneously deploy actions in each population within the framework of this dengue outbreak control plan, carrying out a collective articulation of all campaigns and actions.

The main recommendation to the community is to eradicate all the useless that they have in the patios of their homes and keep the water reservoirs completely closed, since they are the places where the dengue-transmitting mosquito breeds.

Alberto Bernal, Bolívar’s Secretary of Health, said that the department currently registers 1,706 cases of dengue, of which there are 30 serious cases and it is expected that the cases will decrease with the implementation of the actions framed within the hospital red alert declaration. “We are working and implementing all the necessary tools to lower the figures currently registered by the department,” said the Secretary of Health.

The government of Bolívar Primero, from the Public Health unit, is executing the inspection, surveillance and control actions of the environmental risk factors that affect human health in coordination with the environmental authorities, in the municipalities and corregimientos.

The director of the OAGRD Bolívar, José Ricaurte, specified that with the declaration of the Hospital Red Alert, the municipal mayors must intensify epidemiological surveillance and reinforce medical care in health centers.

The director specified that the community must have the guidelines for preparation and readiness for a possible second rainy season in 2023 with a probable incidence of El Niño conditions. Finally, he urged people who feel the symptoms to go to the doctor and receive special attention and thus avoid complications.
