A 26-year-old from Linz drowned Thursday followingnoon in Pleschinger See in Linz’s neighboring municipality of Steyregg, the Upper Austrian state police reported in a press release on Friday. Suddenly he clapped his hands and shouted something before he went under. A woman sounded the alarm. A fire department diver rescued the 26-year-old. He was resuscitated on the bank by an emergency doctor and then taken to a hospital in Linz, where he might not be saved.
The police reinforced their forces during the search and rescue of the sunken swimmer because his family members were in an emotional state of emergency.
