The round table on safety in the trams and buses of the Flemish public transport company De Lijn will take place on Tuesday July 11, declared the Flemish Minister for Mobility Lydia Peeters (Open VLD) before the Commission for Mobility and of Public Works of the Flemish Parliament.
This round table was scheduled because of the multiplication of the number of attacks once morest the drivers of the public transport company. The Federal Ministers of Justice, Vincent Van Quickenborne, and of the Interior, Annelies Verlinden, will be present, as will the Managing Director of De Lijn, Ann Schoubs, the Belgian Federation of Bus and Coach Operators (FBAA) , the federal police and the College of Attorneys General, said the Liberal minister.
Concrete actions had already been discussed at a meeting held last Wednesday, including the hiring of 67 additional controllers, which represents a third of the current workforce, and the installation of closed driving positions on all De Lijn bus.
