Club Brugge are in advanced talks to secure the services of Norwegian goalkeeper Örjan Nyland, who is currently without a club since leaving Leipzig, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.
This arrival might meet the needs of the Bruges club which is looking for an additional goalkeeper following the injury of Joe Bursik, the understudy of Simon Mignolet.
Nyland, 30, is an experienced goalkeeper who has proven himself at several European clubs throughout his career. He notably played in Norway with Molde FK before joining Aston Villa in 2015. During his stay in England, he was also loaned to clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City.
The Norwegian goalkeeper then joined FC Ingolstadt in Germany, before spending two seasons at Aston Villa. Most recently, he was a member of RB Leipzig, although he didn’t play much during his time in the Bundesliga. Now free of any contract, Nyland is looking for a new opportunity to relaunch his career and demonstrate his skills on the pitch.
Club Brugge are therefore in advanced negotiations with Nyland, seeking to strengthen their squad following Joe Bursik’s injury. Although Simon Mignolet is in the number one keeper position, Bursik’s injury has created a need for a quality goalkeeper as a reliable understudy. The possible arrival of Nyland might offer an ideal solution in this regard.
