Apple released this Thursday (06) an update for Shazam, its tool capable of identifying songs by “listening” to an excerpt of what is playing. The new version adds support for detecting songs in third-party applications.
According to the release notes for version 15.36, now available on the App Store, the feature will be able to detect music on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. When you hear a sound you want to get to know better in one of the apps, just open Shazam, tap the music recognition button and go back to the app you want to identify the song.
It is possible to recognize songs with the version of Shazam built into the iPhone. By tapping the “Shazam” button in Control Center, the microphone can “listen” to what is playing in third-party apps by detecting sound from the speakers, so it is possible that the update will only bring optimizations to identify sounds within third-party apps.
Shazam is a tool capable of doing more than just identifying songs. When you find that song that you’ve always heard in different places, but mightn’t identify the name or artist, the application saves the song in an automatically created playlist for you to listen to later.
To make the tool even more comprehensive, Apple recently empowered Shazam with Apple Music Classical integration, so users can identify compositions directly through the classical music-optimized streaming app, searching works from a catalog of over 5 million titles.
The update is currently only available for iOS users. There is still no forecast for the availability of the new version for Android users.
