Mountain bike and gravel enthusiast, racing bike fan or even longboard fan, whatever your level, you will be able to enjoy “exceptional tracks and trails with a very varied topography”.

VTT

Thanks to its dedicated trails close to the city, Freiburg im Breisgau is positioned as a pioneer city in Germany in terms of mountain biking. The close collaboration between the forestry office and the city’s mountain bike association has given rise to a real mountain bike paradise with trails for all levels.

A total of 11 trails that all have very promising names like Flying Gufi, Badish Moon Rising or Canadian Trail. Very accessible but yet very varied, the Flying Gufi is a 400 meter trail that climbs slightly in the forest and includes turns, flat passages, bumps and jumps.

From Freiburg im Breisgau’s Schauinsland mountain to the city gates, the Badish Moon Rising Trail can be combined with the Canadian Trail to fully enjoy thrilling descents. The Badish Moon Rising is a simple to intermediate level trail that stretches for almost 3.5 kilometers. Its varied route includes a slight drop and runs along the ridges of the forest. The end of the trail continues with the start of the 3.2 kilometer Canadian Trail. Due to its high level of difficulty, it is rather reserved for experienced cyclists. The website of the Freiburg im Breisgau Mountain Bike Association provides detailed information on difficulty levels, start and end points, routes and elevation differences for all trails.

Gravel

Those who practice gravel generally favor trails that combine asphalt roads, gravel and dirt roads. The varied landscape around Freiburg allows for a wide variety of trails: from the flat Rhine Valley over the hilly terrain of Kaisterstuhl and Markgräflerland to uphill climbs in the Black Forest.

A circuit that leaves directly from the city to reach the Dreisam valley allows you to admire the Black Forest from splendid viewpoints and take short breaks for swimming in the Dreisam and outdoor swimming pools. The circuit extends over nearly 51 kilometers with a drop of 400 meters.

Longboard

Longboard fans can practice their favorite sport at the gates of Fribourg. This 14 kilometer asphalt track leaves from the small station of Himmelreich to reach the city center of Fribourg. Cruising and carving guaranteed with slight climbs, along fields, farms and the Dreisam. This longboard circuit is suitable for beginners, experienced and pro levels: the “Himmelreich Tour” circuit is described in detail on the official Freiburg website visit.freiburg.de.

Skate

Beginners and experienced skaters will not be disappointed with the Dietenbachpark skate park. Germany’s largest and most modern skate park offers 2,400 square meters of modules, ramps, bowls and rails. The main attraction of the park remains the scale reproduction of the famous Arto Saari bowl in California. It is a rounded pool, also called a “backyard pool”.

Access to the skatepark is authorized for skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, BMX and active and sporty wheelchairs.
