The new earphones from the manufacturer Shokz might interest those who want to enjoy the freedom of True Wireless models but who can’t stand the intrusion of a device into their ear canals.

Shokz OpenFit: a free-ear design

Shokz (formerly AfterShokz) seduced us with its OpenRun and OpenRun Pro bone conduction headphones -which you can find our tests here and there- relies on its years of experience and intends to provide wireless headphones with satisfactory rendering while leaving the ear canal free. Attention, the OpenFit do not use bone conduction technology but diffuse the sound thanks to an ear cushion which is placed above the auditory canal. This not only keeps you in touch with your surroundings, but might also satisfy those who can’t stand intrusive patterns.

Autonomy of 7 hours

The OpenFit earphones weigh 8.3 grams and feature a specific speaker measuring 18 x 11mm as well as the in-house DirectPitch technology that optimizes the sound according to the distance and angle of the source in relation to the human ear, using reverse waves to reduce sound leakage to the outside, all in order to offer a premium rendering according to the manufacturer. The headphones rely on OpenBass technology to ensure consistent bass frequencies and the controls are tactile.

A dolphin bow earhook provides support, including during sports sessions (IP54 certification is included) and the autonomy reaches 7 hours for the headphones and 28 hours with the charging box. The OpenFit use AI Call Noise Cancellation technology to ensure call quality by filtering out 99.7% of ambient noise according to Shokz (not ANC), as well as Bluetooth 5.2 with the SBC and AAC codecs. Available in 2 colors (black and beige), the OpenFit are now available in France at a price of 199.99 euros.
