The night of the fire, Farès, 29, entrepreneur and young father, was returning from a family meal when he heard a woman screaming from the burning building. He did not hesitate to enter the building to save her. After helping her out, Farès returned to the building to check that no one else was there. It was while leaving the building that he collapsed, unconscious, reports Le Progrès.

Farès is currently between life and death in the intensive care unit of the Edouard Herriot hospital in Lyon. His lungs are 80% intoxicated, and his family anxiously awaits an attempt to wake him up. Lazim insists on his brother’s courage: “That night, my brother saved a woman’s life. And I’m sure he didn’t experience it that way. He did not hesitate to run into the building. He probably didn’t even think he was taking risks. Because he’s like that: he always wants to help people. He is a person who helps on all fronts. »
The mayor of Villeurbanne, Cédric Van Styvendael, even contacted the family to check on Farès and to apologize for previous reports downplaying the extent of the injuries. The town hall acknowledged that although initial reports indicated four injuries, including one serious, they quickly learned that all of the injured were out of danger.
