Wolfgang Böck, who is celebrating his 20th year as director in Burgenland this year, shone in the role of Rappelkopf in “The Alpine King and the Misanthrope”.
In the 51st season of the Schloss-Spiele Kobersdorf, Ferdinand Raimund’s romantic-comic magic play “The Alpine King and the Misanthrope” is on the program, directed by Michael Gampe. “Kobersdorf is the speech stage of Burgenland and we have never had a classic by Raimund on the schedule in the course of my work. So it was regarding time,” explained director Wolfgang Böck.
Strong group
Gerhard Kasal played the ‘King of the Alps’, artistic director Wolfgang Böck interpreted the grumpy Rappelkopf and Alexander Jagsch the faithful ‘Servant Habakuk’. Johanna Bertl, Tanina Beess, Christoph-Lukas Hagenauer, Dominik Kaschke, Seraphine Rastl, Julian Rohrmoser, Manfred Sarközi and Elisabeth Veit were seen in other roles. The stage design by Erich Uiberlacker paired with the music by Helmut Thomas Stippich created a harmonious atmosphere in the historic castle courtyard.
“In Kobersdorf, it’s almost a tradition from year to year that we achieve an occupancy rate of over 95 percent. That should also succeed in 2023: Of the around 13,600 tickets issued from this year’s production, around 11,000 tickets have already been sold. The Wolfgang Böck’s 20-year directorship is therefore a golden era for culture in Burgenland,” said the provincial governor and cultural advisor, Hans Peter Doskozil.
