Milan aims to sign Samuel Chukwueze
League Plus – Milan seeks to sign Villarreal striker Samuel Chukwueze, in order to support the Italian team in the current summer Mercato.
According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A giants have made an official offer to sign the Nigerian international winger.
Chukwueze appeared on Milan’s radar following a stellar season with Villarreal, where he helped the club perform well, scoring six goals and five assists in 37 league appearances.
Chukwueze created 6 big chances last season and completed 53% of his dribbling attempts. He is also dangerous in 1v1 situations, while his nimbleness and dribbling ability make him a threat in wide areas.
Milan is keen to significantly strengthen its team this summer following losing the Italian League title last season, as it finished fourth in the Italian League behind Napoli, the Scudetto champion.
Chukwueze is expected to replace Brahim Diaz, who returned to Real Madrid following the end of his two-year loan spell at the San Siro.
The Nigerian has gained a lot of experience in La Liga since coming to the youth ranks at Villarreal, scoring 21 goals and 18 assists in 155 matches with the submarines since joining the first team in 2018.
Chukwueze has one year left on his current deal and Villarreal are committed to selling him this summer or losing him for nothing next year.
Milan are looking to capitalize on his contract situation at Villarreal, by coaxing him into a cut-price deal this summer. They have made a first bid and are awaiting a response from the Spanish side.
The Rossoneri are also close to signing AZ Alkmaar midfielder Tijani Rejenders, following making an offer of €19m for the Dutch player.
