Following approval by the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC), F1 announced on Wednesday 5 July the FIA-F1 World Championship calendar for the 2024 season. The Japanese Grand Prix will be held at Suzuka Circuit on April 7 as the fourth round of the series.

To keep the season sustainable, F1 has been promoting regional groupings of the calendar as part of logistics and reducing the burden on teams. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said it would be impossible to change everything at once, but that he would “keep moving in the right direction” to “avoid unnecessary travel wherever possible”.
By moving the Japanese GP, which was normally held in October, to April by replacing the Azerbaijan GP, the Asian round following the early Middle East round will be organized in March and April. On March 30th, one week before the race, Formula E will be held in Tokyo for the first time in Japan.
With the exception of the 1994 Pacific Grand Prix held at TI Circuit Aida (currently Okayama International Circuit), it will be the first time in history that the F1 Japan Grand Prix will be held in April.
