Pilots Demand Salary Increase and Threaten Strike: Potential Disruption for 40,000 Travelers

Ryanair pilots threaten to strike: in fact, the staff is demanding a salary increase, which the members had to lower during the covid. Problem, it still hasn’t been indexed, which is illegal. Another subject: the pace of work. Currently, the pilots chain 5 days of work, followed by 4 days of rest.

So, if this strike is maintained, 40,000 travelers might be affected and who must take off or land here in Charleroi. Around 250 flights are scheduled for Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July.

Even if there is a strike, that does not mean that all these planes will be eliminated. Last July, a third of flights were canceled following Ryanair’s 2-day strike.

9,000 people were unable to fly. It will therefore be necessary to follow the progress of the discussions: one piece of advice, go regularly to the company’s website, with your flight number and see if the situation changes.

Last important element: there will be no impact for passengers at Brussels Airport, since the departures and arrivals of Ryanair planes at Zaventem have not been operated for 1 year by Belgian personnel.
