From heaven to hell. It was 5:0 until the break, and then… A crazy ending at the European Championships
The beginning of the European U19 Championships in Malta seemed like a fairy tale to the Norwegians. It only took 18 minutes for them to lead 3-0 in their first game once morest Greece. The Norwegians defended desperately, and yet they did not avoid another setback. In the fifth minute of added time, Kalogeropoulos scored the fourth goal for the Greeks. There was no time for more. And of course it’s not easy when you decide to make four players debut for the national team at the European Championships. But they stayed there, they fought for the team, they stuck together – Norwegian coach Luis Pimenta explained following the match, quoted by the official UEFA website.
Contrary to appearances, this course of the game did not really bother him. “Of course we hoped they wouldn’t make it 5-4 and we wouldn’t experience all these strong emotions. But these strong emotions are not bad for player development. I am very happy that we finished with three points. I’m disappointed that we conceded as much goal difference as we had at half-time. But ultimately we have to think regarding the whole tournament and not just one game.”

The Norwegians therefore have a valuable three points, and the exit from the group will still fight with Iceland and Spain. The Polish national team also takes part in the tournament in Malta, but it went to a different group. In the first match on Monday, they lost 2-0 to Portugal.
