Winston-Salem.- Admission to the Kaleideum Children’s Museum in Winston-Salem costs $3 for certain people.

To get the discount, all you have to do is present your WIC, EBT or Link2Feed card.

This space has areas for children of all ages to learn through play.

There, they can enter the world of science, nature, the human body and how the world works. For example, there are blocks, books and puppets for the little ones, as well as mat areas.

Also, it has a stable, supermarket, tables and chairs for children to put together puzzles.

Imaginative play is key at this museum, so kids can pretend to fish in a river or make discoveries in a large sandbox.

There is a hallway that displays different live animals such as fish, turtles, snakes, and insects.

Older children can create pictures by putting a sheet of paper under a pendulum and watching its movements create strokes, or even go inside the planetarium to explore space.

And all this, only inside the museum.

Admission is usually $10, but beginning in the summer admission is available for $3 per person for those with “food stamps” or food aid cards.

The Kaleideum Children’s Museum has a program called Museums for All that grew by partnering with the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Thus, entry at $3 per person is possible for those who have their WIC, EBT or Link2Feed card.

WIC focuses on women, infants and children and is for moms who are pregnant or have children up to 5 years of age. It is a state program and consists of a card where they deposit money.

EBT or SNAP are funds for food that the state gives through a debit card to low-income families.

Link2Feed is a card that supports food banks, organizations and church associations that provide food.

For example, those who visit the food banks and pantries of churches and organizations, such as the Salvation Army, Iglesia Nueva Vida and The Shalom Project.

“We are taking another step toward removing barriers and creating an inclusive space for all individuals and families to explore, learn, and grow together,” Elizabeth Dampier, Kaleideum’s CEO, said in a statement.

The park outside the museum opens at the same time, but closes 30 minutes earlier.

Groundbreaking broke in August 2021 for a new Kaleideum Museum in downtown Winston-Salem. The inauguration will be in February 2024.
