This weekend, Tití Fernández shared an emotional letter to her daughter nine years following her death. Like all the anniversaries of her death, the sports journalist recalled the moments that he lived with Soledad and shared her pain with her followers.
Soledad Fernández passed away on July 2, 2014 at the age of 26. She was in Brazil with him covering the 2014 World Cup. That day, the young woman traveled with two other journalists from São Paulo to Belo Horizonte when the car in which she was traveling crashed into another vehicle.
“It seems incredible, but nine years ago today you took this photo in San Pablo. Argentina and Switzerland were playing, you were very happy because we had won a game that had been complicated and we passed the round. It was your last photo”, wrote Tití at the beginning of the description of the post.
In it, Martínez added a carousel with three photos of Soledad. In the first one, you can see the young woman wearing the national team’s jersey in one of the Brazilian stadiums where one of the most important matches of the 2014 World Cup took place.
“I remember that we kissed goodbye and you told me ‘bye bye, see you tomorrow’, but there was no tomorrow because that night there was a tragic crash that took your life. I was waiting for you for breakfast and you never came,” Tití said in the letter.
And at the end he added: “While I was having a coffee I came across the tragic news of your death. What injustice dear daughter. How much you had to give, how empty you left us, it is impossible not to think of you at all times.
