The Chinese company Great Wall plans to expand its presence in the European market through its sub-brands Ora and WEY. However, due to the possible introduction of restrictive measures by the European Union, Great Wall is looking for ways to circumvent additional duties on Chinese cars. One such way might be cooperation with the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant (ZAZ), which can produce Great Wall models under its own brand and deliver them to Europe without obstacles.
One of the potential products of such cooperation may be the new electric hatchback ZAZ-965 “Serpen” 2024, which is an adapted version of Great Wall’s Ora Good Cat (or Funky Cat) and which the portal designer showed in his renderings “naavtotrasse.ru“. This model is already sold in China and some European countries and is in high demand due to its unusual design, good performance and affordable price.
The Serpen will share many similarities with the Ora Good Cat, but will also receive some changes to suit the requirements and tastes of European buyers. For example, a hatchback will have a more classic body shape. He will also receive modern optics.
In technical terms, the model will be equipped with a 171 hp front electric motor. The battery will receive a capacity of 48 or 59 kWh, which will provide a range of up to 400 km on WLTP. Charging from a fast charging station will take regarding 40 minutes. The price of the ZAZ-965 Serpen 2024 is not yet known, but it is expected to be lower than that of the Ora Good Cat, which costs from 35,000 euros. This might make the hatchback more attractive to European buyers who are looking for an affordable and environmentally friendly electric car with original design and decent equipment. With a successful combination of circumstances, the model may appear on the market as early as next year.
