“Cit was important to us at Jean-Marie (Pomarès) and me to have the biggest Maxi Bazar store in Mougins because we are both from Mougins”explained Stéphane Pellegrin, president of Rochechouart distribution and owner of the premises when laying the first stone of the future store and the brand’s head office along avenue Saint-Martin.
Maxi Bazar, “It’s regarding 1,000 employees in France and Switzerland. The brand continues to grow.” With a turnover of 250 million euros, the company will become one of the main companies in the municipality.
“The town hall has supported us a lot on this project, thanked the general manager of Maxi Bazar, Jean-Marie Pomarès. For once we have a national company that can be set up in the provinces. […] Although we have a national level company, I am quite proud, as a Mouginsman, that in one year we will be celebrating a magnificent store here but also, in the long term, the headquarters of Maxi Bazar.”
The building with a surface area of 3,000m2 will be set up on two floors. Made up of 2,230m2 of retail space and 770m2 of offices and staff premises.
Harmonious construction
“We had regarding seven or eight projects proposed but which degraded the site, underlined, for his part, the first deputy, Christophe Ulivieri. Our goal was to have something that is harmonious, that respects what was done elsewhere. […] Someone had to have the means to assume this stone facade on the ground floor, to also have this withdrawal above with this terrace which will accommodate a work of art. […] Keeping the company’s head office in the territory of the Pays de Lérins urban community is good. We did it. We worked with local residents and the consultation went very well…”
The work should be completed within a year.
