The Citizen Card is an essential tool offered by the Brazilian Federal Government that guarantees access to various benefits and social services. How to ask for the first copy of the Citizen Card?

First of all, it is important to mention that you need to be registered in the Caixa Econômica Federal systems. That is, if you have already benefited from some social right and now you only need the card, you can go directly to a Caixa physical branch to request the first copy.

There, you must submit:

original RG; CPF; Proof of address; NIS number.

Having these documents in hand, the bank employee will request your card and ask you to set a password.

On the other hand, you can also apply for the Citizen Card without leaving home. For that:

Call 0800 726 0207;

Then, choose alternative 5 to be redirected to the appropriate sector, which will provide information regarding “Bolsa Família Card or Social Card and password”;

Then choose the “Social Card” option. From there, the attendant will ask for your CPF and other personal data to confirm your identity;

Once this is done, the attendant will provide the necessary information to obtain your card.

Is it possible to request a duplicate?

Caixa’s system allows users to request a new copy of the card, in case the original has been lost or stolen. However, there must still be outstanding payments for a new card to be sent.

If all your benefit amounts have already been received, as in the case of the Unemployment Insurance, it will not be possible to request another card. If there are still amounts to be received from the benefit, call the same number mentioned above: 0800 726 0207. Select option 1 to be automatically directed to an attendant and report the incident.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that if you already have a Savings or Current account at Caixa, you can request that the benefits be deposited directly into this account. This brings convenience to the user, as it allows him to check the balance of the benefit whenever he wants and carry out financial transactions on his cell phone without having to leave his home.

What can you receive with the Citizen Card?

The Citizen Card is a tool offered by Caixa Econômica Federal to facilitate citizens’ access to various social and labor benefits. With it, you can receive:

Social Benefits: such as Bolsa Família, a direct income transfer program that benefits families living in poverty and extreme poverty across the country.

Labor Benefits: the Citizen Card allows you to receive the Salary Bonus, PIS income and unemployment insurance.
FGTS: the Citizen Card makes it possible to withdraw amounts from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS), whether related to dismissals without just cause, retirement, home ownership, among other reasons provided for by law.
PIS income: the Card is also used to withdraw annual income from the Social Integration Program (PIS).
