Maria Jose Quintanilla decided to face one of his biggest challenges by venturing into the Magellan Sea. This Sunday, during the broadcast of the “De Paseo” program, the renowned Chilean singer plunged into the icy waters of one of the most emblematic places in the region.
The event known as “El Puzón del Estrecho” has been an annual tradition since 2008, where intrepid participants jump into the sea in the midst of low temperatures. Although the official date is celebrated on July 7, María José did not want to wait any longer and she joined the pre-activity carried out on this day.
However, before entering the water, Quintanilla might not help but show some apprehension. “Excuse the expression, but I’m freezing shit,” she confessed as she prepared herself for the challenge that lay ahead.

With determination, the singer stepped forward and entered the icy waters. Although her contact with the cold surprised her, María José remained firm and managed to advance a few meters before returning to the shore.
“My first impression is that I had never felt so cold,” Quintanilla commented following his brave attempt.
“What I feel is cold, it is ice. Here I am, making my homeland, because Santiago is not Chile and because sometimes you have to go to the end of the world to do something for the first time,” added the singer.
Finally, he joked: “From Punta Arenas, in the Strait of Magellan, there are minus two degrees. Now I know how Jack and Rose felt on the Titanic. I feel like I’m shivering to the bone.”
