The Hebrew “Walla” website revealed tonight that “Hezbollah members moved one of the two tents that the party set up two weeks ago from the Shebaa Farms to Lebanon.”
The website claimed that “there is still one tent left in place”. The security establishment in Israel estimates that “Hezbollah is looking for a way to prevent confrontation and move the second tent to Lebanese territory as well.”
About two and a half weeks ago, it was announced that representatives of the Foreign Relations Unit in the Israeli army had submitted a complaint to UNIFIL regarding the expansion of Hezbollah’s position into Israeli territory in the Shebaa Farms, which is known by Israel as “Har Dov” (Mount Ross), on the Lebanese border.
An Israeli security official said at the time, “A diplomatic and military message was conveyed that if the sites established on the border are not evacuated, an operation will be carried out to clear the area.” He added, “There is no intention to tolerate provocation, and this is another provocative act by Hezbollah.”
While Israel is working on several tracks through a French and an American channel, to pressure Lebanon to push Hezbollah to vacate the site, Israel set, in a threatening message it conveyed to Lebanon, a deadline (which was not announced) to remove the tents erected by Hezbollah. On lands “sovereign of the State of Israel,” as Tel Aviv put it, “before it moves.”
Ynet revealed secret steps for the Israeli army, which sought to communicate with the Lebanese army and put pressure on it through diplomatic channels through the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), to push Hezbollah to evacuate the site and dismantle the military tents.
