According to Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton should have received more than one penalty at the Austrian Grand Prix due to his many out-of-track runs.
The Red Bull Ring may only have ten corners, but an astronomical number of violations of track limits were observed during the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix. Many drivers received a five-second penalty for repeated deviations, other sanctions might follow while the FIA must examine more than 1,200 contentious situations.
Among the drivers penalized during the event, Lewis Hamilton was very quickly pinned down by race management. In the first kilometers, as he tried to widen the gap on Lando Norristhe seven-time World Champion went off turn 10 on multiple occasions, so much so that his opponent protested on the radio.
