There will be a very special comeback in the test match between Germany and Colombia. Monica Lierhaus works as a reporter. SPOX clarifies what is behind the story of the 53-year-old.
It will be Germany’s third and last international match of the summer break before the players go on holiday and then return to their teams.

Germany vs. Colombia: What regarding RTL reporter Monica Lierhaus?
For the first time in over 14 years, Monica Lierhaus will accompany a sporting event live on television. For the broadcasting station RTL, she acts as a reporter alongside moderator Florian König.
Lierhaus only made her live comeback on German TV on RTL Aktuell on Monday. The 53-year-old has been working as a sports journalist and inclusion consultant for the Cologne broadcaster since April.
Another task is currently the moderation of the Special Olympics (June 17th to 25th). She made her debut in the Europa League quarter-final first leg between Bayer Leverkusen and Saint-Gilloise on April 13.

What regarding RTL reporter Monica Lierhaus?
That Liehaus can go back to her job is not a matter of course. In January 2009 she had to undergo brain surgery to remove an aneurysm. However, there were complications, which is why she was placed in an artificial coma for four months.
Lierhaus then had to relearn how to walk and speak. As a result, she was unable to practice her profession for many years.
“I’m a journalist through and through. And just a few days following I was admitted to rehab, it was clear to me: I’m going to return as a journalist. I didn’t know which station, but I knew I was coming back,” explained her to RTL.
At the beginning of her TV comeback on RTL Aktuell she said: “It’s so great for me to be able to stand in a studio once more – sensational.”

The test match between Germany and Colombia will only be shown on RTL. The preliminary reports start at 8.15 p.m. when moderator Florian König goes on the air.
