In order to regularize their identification until their departure from Peruvian territory is effective following serving their sentence, the act of enrolling 272 foreign inmates was carried out in the Lurigancho prison, through the alliance of the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE). and the National Superintendence of Migrations.
The inmates come from Venezuela (240), Colombia (17), Chile (3), Dominican Republic (3), United States (2), Argentina (1), Brazil (1), Ecuador (1), France (1) , Israel (1), Japan (1) and Mexico (1).

Migration personnel registered biometric data such as fingerprints and facial recognition of persons deprived of their liberty, as well as digital signature and updated photography, in order to grant them suspended immigration status. The corresponding card will be delivered to them at a later date.
The granting of the suspended migratory quality will allow that fines are not generated for immigration administrative infractions for the foreigner, in addition to enjoying some penitentiary benefit, they will be able to carry out formal paid activities in a dependent manner or on their own while they are confined in a penitentiary establishment.
The activity was attended by the Director of Migration Operations, Cynthia Otani; the zonal head of the National Migration Superintendency, Rolly Arturo Prada; the president of the National Penitentiary Council (CNP), Javier Llaque Moya; the director of the INPE Prison Registry Directorate, Violeta Luna Quispe and the director of the prison, Alex Samamé Peña, among others.

The director of Migration Operations, Cynthia Otani said that her institution is taking a new step in order to regularize, obtain information and biometric data from those deprived of their liberty and called on family members to come to the offices to start their regularization process and access to prisons.

He explained that his institution has presented several initiatives in order to maintain order and internal security, regularizing all foreign citizens who are irregular.
The president of the CNP, Javier Llaque Moya, stated that through the enrollment of foreign citizens, the aim is to overcome this irregular situation, resulting in a positive and beneficial environment.
Llaque Moya, highlighted that the strategic alliance between INPE and the National Superintendency of Migrations contributes to the citizen security of the country, since it will be achieved through a future agreement with Interpol to verify the proper identity of foreign inmates with the sole purpose of that when they serve their sentence they are expelled from our country
The prison official urged the prison population to participate in the activities that the INPE carries out, such as work and study, and to have appropriate conduct, respecting authority, and without violating the security of the prison.
