The holidays are approaching as the temperatures rise, and the urge to jump into a swimming pool in this heat is strongly felt. And if we often think regarding protecting our skin once morest the harmful effects of the sun and chlorine, we often neglect the hair. To prevent your dream vacation from turning into a nightmare for your hair, specialist hairdressers James Mia et Laura Polkowhose remarks were relayed by the site Well and Goodshare their tips with us.
The secret of hairdressers to protect your dream hair from chlorine
Whether you are a fan of series of lengths or prefer to laze in the water, the swimming pool remains one of the activities that we particularly like during the holidays. And to avoid damaging our hair with all the chlorine and harsh chemicals in swimming pool water, hairdressers advise to wet our hair before diving into the water.
« When you wet your hair before swimming in a pool or in the sea, you fill the rods with clean water rather than chlorinated or salt water“, explains James Miju, colorist and owner of LV1 Studio. ” This helps to reduce discoloration and drying damage that makes hair really brittle and prone to breakage. »
So since prevention is better than cure, hairdressers recommend that we saturate our hair well with clean water before making a bomb in the water. The famous hairdresser Laura Polkobrand ambassador Aquagecomplete this advice with a trick to follow when getting out of the water:
« Every time you leave the pool or the sea, the most important thing to do is to put on a spray leave-in conditioner in hair” , she says. ” Using a leave-in conditioner will act as a buffer to help prevent this damage.«
She adds that you should also avoid brushing your hair at this stage, as this might cause even more damage. To make sure your hair is well hydrated, you can also apply a hair mask:
« Let it sit for a while, then rinse. No need for shampoo” , she says. ” If you must brush your hair, use a gentle option like a wet brush rather than something too hard.«
