If the will of the electorate was recognizable, then the members were cheated of their votes

Vienna (OTS) – “In the SPÖ, it seems that it is not who decides who votes, but who counts,” says the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, on the never-ending story of the election for SPÖ chairman.

“According to media reports, hundreds of votes in the SPÖ member survey were not counted because parts of the ballot papers were cut off with scissors. The reason: invalid due to formalities. It is interesting that it is not said which of the three candidates would have benefited. None of this creates trust, either internally or for outsiders. And there can be no question of complete transparency and traceability – a minimum in democratic elections. In any case, one thing is clear: if the will of the voters was clearly recognizable, then the members were cheated of their votes,” the Secretary General concluded.
