Basic recipe for water with taste
An aromatic fruit water is prepared in just a few minutes and is very easy. Thanks to the wide range of seasonal and regional fruit and vegetables in summer, things never get boring. In addition, a homemade fruit water – also called infused water – is a visual eye-catcher and a highlight at every garden party.
fruit, vegetables or herbs
In addition to tap water, you need the fruit and vegetables of your choice already mentioned, as well as herbs – preferably organic or from your own garden. There are no limits to your imagination when it comes to choice and combination. Fruits such as lemons and oranges, melons, berries, peaches or nectarines are particularly suitable, as are apples and grapes. When it comes to vegetables, cucumbers, celery sticks and carrots give the water the necessary boost of freshness. Mint, basil, thyme, lemon balm and rosemary as well as lavender, ginger, cinnamon sticks, rose petals and peppermint bring the necessary spice into play. You already have everything you need to get to work.
How to do it!
In the first step, the fruits and vegetables are cut into pieces, strips or cubes – small berries such as currants or blueberries can be used whole. You can easily pluck herbs from the stalks and for more flavor you can crush individual leaves between your fingers. Your selected ingredients are then placed in a glass bottle, beautiful carafe or punch bowl. And are doused with tap water and then chilled. You should let your infused water steep for at least 20 minutes so that the aromas can transfer into the water – the longer, the more aromas. Last but not least, when the carafe is empty, the fruits used make a delicious treat, because it would be a shame to throw them away.
